Superwoman Syndrome

By Louisa Nedkov, Energy Coach Speaker

Do you work full time, take evening courses to advance your career, spend 10 hours a week cleaning your home, take your kids to soccer practice, tend to friends and then offer to bake muffins for the annual fundraiser?

If you can relate to the above, you have definitely bought into being superwoman! The lure is being everyone’s hero. The payoff is feeling needed, vital, well liked and admired. But the trap is that you end up having all your energy zapped by an endless procession of causes and people, which ultimately results in, you guessed it: burnout!

Make this year’s resolution to retire your cape and instead opt for reciprocity:

  • Share the opportunities that come your way instead of trying to do everything yourself.
  • Request an equal amount of assistance and strength from others.
  • Encourage others to become independent by helping them to begin solving their own problems.
