Free Website Uptime Monitoring with SMS Alerts at AreMySitesUp.com

If you've got a personal or business website, it's important to know when it goes down. You can't be around all the time to check on it which is where uptime monitoring services like AreMySitesUp.com come in. AreMySitesUp.com connects to your website 25 times per day and will notify you if for some reason it can't connect.

There's a bunch of services like this available but what we like about AreMySitesUp.com is that it's free for a basic account and the basic account even includes free SMS alerts in addition to e-mail. Their premium accounts aren't that expensive either at just $25 to $75 US per year if you need more frequent checks, Twitter integration, iPhone Apps, or faster support.

4 Free Issues of BusinessWeek Magazine + Power Plays Digital Playbook

TradePub.com, a magazine service that offers free subscriptions and samples to qualified individuals, is offering 4 issues of Business Week and their digital playbook: Power Plays for free! Subscriptions are free as long as you work in an industry relevant to their intended demographics.

If you qualify and you like what you see, you can continue the subscription with 21 more issues for $20 Canadian, or 46 additional issues for $30. Either package works out to less than a dollar per issue, which is also well below newsstand pricing. You do have to select a subscription option right off the bat, but you can just keep the 4 issues and owe nothing by marking the bill "cancel" and returning it.

Free Windows Mobile Phone Back Up with Microsoft My Phone

Microsoft has opened up their free My Phone back up service for Window Mobile devices to the general public. All you have to do is register for the My Phone beta program on their site and you'll be able to back up your contacts, calendar, text messages, tasks, photos, and more directly to Microsoft's servers. Best of all, it's free as long as you don't go over the 200MB limit.

That might be a bit small to back up your music or photo collection but for everthing else that should be more than enough space. After you back it up, you'll also be able to access the information on the web at anytime. Standard data usage rates still apply for back up over your cell phone network of course, so keep that in mind. It's always a good idea to back up your phone data and it's perfect if you have a data plan that you're not getting full use of right now.
