| Splurge or Save |

I thought it would be a nice idea to see what purchases we think are splurge worthy, and what we can save on. I personally think that shoes, and purses are worth the splurge just because we tend to use them on a daily basis. For shoes its about comfort, and for purses it's about it's capacity to hold everything we need. What do you think is splurge and save worthy?

Good question! I splurge on jeans because the right pair of jeans is so versatile. I also splurge on perfume (Jo Malone) because I think cheap perfume... smells like cheap perfume! I also splurge on my skin care products because I have finicky skin.
I buy cheap winter gloves because the dogs are always eating them. I buy the same few $10 bottles of wine because I'm just not interested in becoming a connoisseur. And I buy all my tees and tanks at Old Navy because I just haven't experienced that spending more buys a better tee/tank. Last edited by Kate M; Feb 20, 2009 at 04:39 PM. |

I agree, my biggest splurges are handbags and shoes! I'm a handbag junkie so I love all the hot brands (Hayden and Hartnett, Matt & Nat etc.) and they are durable!
Shoes I have to splurge on because I have tiny but wide feet and only those shoes engineered for comfort work for me (Ecco, Clarks, Hush Puppies). I save on tops, I get a lot of my shirts at Suzy Shier because they're totally on trend and have great prices. Also, I get all my petite jeans at Winners, no hemming and great prices! |

Splurges for me are bags, shoes and jewelry. I'm really partial to certain designers and I think you get much better quality and styling.
For saving, I skimp on socks, tees, and basics like body lotion and body wash. |

I have come to realize that expensive chocolate is really really worth it! I have tried almost every kind of chocolate in existence
and you can't beat the Godiva's and See's (a California brand)! |

![]() I had chocolates from Leonida's in Belgium a couple of times and they were FINE, FINE, FINE! I don't have a particular category of splurge-worthy items. I try to buy the best I can for the best price I can find. I bought some fabulous socks from Wal-Mart (cheap enough). I then went and bought some different socks as Wal-Mart didn't have the first ones anymore and they were cheap, but truly awful. My feet hated them. I then went to Winners and got some only slightly more expensive socks, but they were lovely. I didn't care so long as my feet were happy. I go cheap on things that are at all trendy. I try to get quality pieces for the classics, hopefully heavily discounted. I won't pay extra for a name (I'm not easily impressed), but I will pay for quality. |
