Default How to get glitter eyeshadow to stay?

I have the MAC Pigment Glitter in Rose, and was wondering how do you get the glitter to stay? I've read to use lotion/vaseline but I find that they create a crease and way too oily. Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Have you tried eyeshadow primers such as Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion? That one always gets top reviews.

I haven't tried the primer by Urban Decay, would you mix it together and dab it on the eye, or would you prime first?

I think you should try it. You put the primer on your eyelids first and then you apply the eyeshadow.

Definately use a primer as a base. I like the smashbox version that's avalible at shoppers, murale, and sephora.

wouldn't the primer make it a matte finish? How would the glitter stay then? The Rose pigment is sort of a loose glitter/powder

Matte just describes the look of the finish, it won't affect how well the eye makeup adheres. On another note, I did a little more research and found this:

MAC Glitters are not eye safe... They can get into your eyes and possibly cut the eye so we don't really recommend putting them there.

If you want to find out how to make them stick to the skin though, I would recommend MAC's Water Based Mixing Medium for face and body. It is more gentle on your skin than the alcohol based mixing medium.

I would also not recommend using Vaseline or any petroleum based product anywhere near your eyes as it is also NOT eye safe, and IMO I don't think it is a good idea to put petroleum near your eyes. And water as a fixative won't hold the glitter in place over a long period of time and the risk for it getting everywhere including your eyes is pretty much 100%
Yikes.

Default Eye glitter

You need to prime your eyelid first (Urban Decay's Primer Potion is one of the best) and add a creamy eyeshadow base in a light color that matches close to your skin tone or the color of the glitters. Then dab the brush into some of the pigment/glitter and spray some of MAC's Fix + to dampen the pigment (you could try this with water). Pat the glitters on the lid instead of swiping/gliding across. You should apply loose powder on your cheekbone and undereye area before you apply the glitters, just in case you have some fallout. Makes it easier for you to clean up afterwards. Hope this helps

Unfortunately, I don't know much about MAC products. I actually haven't used any before. Your best bet is to go to a MAC store and ask one of the employees there if the glitter you have is eye safe. Better to be safe than sorry.
