So I'm going to be in the US for Thanksgiving, and have heard people rave about Black Friday. Has anyone done it? It is pretty much people traffic? Also do the outlets participate in Black Friday or just shopping malls?

I don't know much about it, but I hear it's killer. Best to go EARLY. And avoid Wal-Mart

I second the go early suggestion. I was in Miami last year on the week of Black Friday. As I was shopping that week, some of the stores already had the Black Friday sale on. I just shopped most of the week and stayed at the beach on the day of. It's great deals but unless you are looking for something specfic that wasn't on sale during the week, I'd rather avoid going to a mall that day. Think it gets a little too crazy!

I know we'd be going early. Does anyone know if outlet malls such as the one in Buffalo have stores that participate in the sales? Unfortunately we are leaving Thursday night and plan to be in Buffalo on the day of Black Friday so I was hoping to check it out and get something especiallly if the prices are that good. I know we won't have time to shop during the week because we willl be in the US for 3 nights 2 days (Including Black Friday) and and both of them are occupied with family get togethers
I heard about the Walmart incident. Thank goodness Walmart is never really on our list. |

Black Friday is alot like our Boxing Day but with 10x the madness! Some places have their sale extend thru the week. I would suggest if you have an item in mind, like a t v to stick to stores that carry what you want. It is easy to get caught up in the chaos and lose track of what you wanted!Good Luck!

Just found out that the outlet by the border opens at midnight. Yikes! It seems everyone is going to be driving down Thursday. Yay Traffic!

Personally, I haven't gone to the US for Black Friday but from what I hear from friends it's pretty much insanity and comparable to Boxing Day, if there was any other holiday remotely close to the madness!

I've never heard of Black Friday before, as I'm not from the states. Is it like Boxing Day?

Yeah, it's like Boxing Day except it happens in November after the US Thanksgiving. And krazycat666 is right about the 10x the madness thing. They have much better deals than us over there not to mention a much larger population.
