Hi, I'm not sure where else to look or find ideas so I'm hoping my fellow scarlett loungers can offer some advice.
I am just a regular girl in love with makeup, and am finally looking into persuing my dream as a makeup artist...keeping in mind I do work full time. I mostly do other peoples make up for fun etc..However I can't decide what school to go to in Toronto. Are there any makeup artists out there who can offer me some advice and direction? I am tired of searching for reviews/schools on the net, and would appreciate if someone can offer anything. A few schools I've seen are: Complections Paramita George Brown Champlain Institute Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Last edited by browneyed; Jun 18, 2009 at 04:49 PM. |

I'm not sure that I'm the best resource BUT I have actually been to the Champlain Institute for services. It's a great little place to get spa and salon services for less. It's quaint and there's a steady stream of clients Hope that helps a bit

I would do the program through George Brown! You would actually be going to Yorkville School of Esthetics. I took the Nail Technician program there and it is a great school, also not as over priced as somewhere like Complections.

Thanks pegah and cats, surprisingly there are very few reviews online...which just adds to my frustration. The GB program is almost the same price as the hair/makeup program at Complections. It's just that if I am going to put this amount of money into something, I want to know I'm going to a good school or at least a recognized one.

I got my makeup diploma from School of Professional Make up. They're the only school that offers part time diploma (Saturday of every week, things might be changed now) The owner of the school was the founder of the Makeup program at GBC. All the teachers there are really experienced and they could hook you up with many volunteer activities (I did for the Miss Universe Canada Pageant) which could help you to build your resume and network.

HI Brown Eyed Girl!
You should really look at into Wink Makeup Academy. Rumor has it the instructors use to work at Yorkville school of makeup and put most of their program together when it first started. They also worked at the School of Proffesional Makeup and now opened up a makeup school themselves. They are getting great review from people in the industry such as Nabet which is a film union. That's how I heard about them. A friend of mine is an makeup artist on film sets and told me thier students producing quality work. You should visit them and see if they are what you are looking for. Good luck in your search! Quote:
