| Acne at 26? |

I never had a problem with pimples as a teenager, but now, at age 26, I have breakouts on my forehead and chin. I have sensitive skin, so I use Cetaphil cleanser and find that acne aids (such as Clean & Clear) make them worse.
Any thoughts/ideas? thanks! |

it might be rosacea...which is known as adult acne...
the cause of rosacea is not truly known but you should avoid stimulating food such as coffee, spicy food, extremely hot beverages or anything that will stimulate your blood flow... Go to your GP and ask him/her to prescribe you some topical cream (I was starting to have rosacea few years ago and my GP prescibed a cream that really helped me....I wish I remember the name ), or if necessary, ask for a referral to dermatologist..if possible...stay away from prescription drugs.....there's no known cure but watching your diet is the keyEDIT: The Neostate Rosacure it pretty garbage IMO Last edited by molala; Nov 2, 2008 at 03:33 AM. |

I too never had acne as a teenager but have suffered from it for a few years now . I bought a tube of "acnomel" at shoppers drug mart in skin tone, it is really brown thought. I put it on each night after cleansing before bed and have noticed a HUGE difference. Not expencive either, only paid I think about $7 for the tube.
Good luck |

Hi there, I had several years of acne problem, I have tried many many methods, including "Proactive"!! None of them worked, so I took one of my girl frd's advise, taking birth control pills. However, not every pill does the magic, I have been told "Daine-55" is the one. I took a 6-month cycle, and the pimples are all gone and I have very smooth skin. They haven't reoccur yet after I have stoped the pills around 8 months now. Good luck! ![]() Rene |

Acne can be very frustrating! I'm a 29 yr old mother of 3 and I still get the odd flare-up, usually during periods of stress of pms. My mother is 49 and she still suffers from acne so I'm not expecting it to go away anytime soon. I think it's mostly to do with stress and genetics.

try to spray water on your face instead of cream or make up for a while, it would help your skin breathe better.

I always had clear skin but lately it’s just been terrible (I’m 27), which I'm thinking is related to the fact that I had a pretty bad flu for a while.
If you're not sleeping well and not getting enough water, that can be a major factor. I recommend Clinique Lotion #2 which isn't too harsh and will usually subdue breakouts. |

If your breakouts are constant and are characterized by pretty severe red enflammed areas on your chin, forehead and cheeks they you may have rosacea. If you have the occasional breakout then you may just have to find the right products that work for you. Your family doctor can help you and that would be the first person you should ask. She may suggest some topical agents that can help if you require spot treatments. The birth control pill is also a good choice but there are so many different brands that you may have to try different ones before finding one that works for you (they also have other side effects). I would definitely speak to you FD and see what options they suggest. Good Luck.
