Free 3-day Travel Insurance w/ Optimum Card, Ends Jan 31/09

Updated January 2nd, 2009: Shoppers Drug Mart just sent an e-mail out notify Optimum card members that the free 3-days of travel insurance is going to end on January 31st. You still have the rest of the month to use it but after that it sounds like it's gone and there's no mention of anything taking it's place.

It covers Emergency Health Care, Accident, Trip Cancellation and Baggage Loss." Learn more about this offer and its restrictions here.

Update: This offer is still available and a handy thing to keep in mind if you're doing any short term travel in the New Year.

Weekend Getaway

We all need a getaway but a long-weekend trip to Italy on a private jet isn’t exactly an option, neither is a quick trip to Florida, when you consider the rising cost of gas and flights. But before you resign to a movie weekend (again) keep in mind that some of the best and most relaxing vacations can be had in Canada.

Volunteer Vacations

If lounging on a beach in exotic locations like the Galapagos Islands seems like a frivolous expense to you, you may want to venture into a new kind of tourism – voluntourism. Essentially, volunteer vacations allow you to subsidize the cost of your trip by staying and working in the community – helping a local cause.

At The Bazaar

A vacation is an invigorating treat. Experiencing new sights, cultures and customs is what makes any destination unforgettable, and no experience would be complete without a visit to the local markets and shopping hot spots. Whether you opt for high fashion in London or seek rare tapestry in Morocco, you can take in the essence of your destination by shopping it.
