  • Your Shop Girl — Fall's Inner Rebel

    By Suzanne Colmer

Still haven’t picked up your fall essentials? It’s as simple as finding your inner rebel with the season’s top five trends:

    Strong Shoulders
This trend was all over the runways for fall. If you carry your weight in your hips a slight extension in the shoulder can help to balance you out. My favourite, the Jaeger London Jacket, is a great example of how to incorporate the trend into your everyday wardrobe.

    Exposed Zippers
I have always thought that the zipper did not get enough attention! This fall, the zipper makes its debut, featured front and centre on everything from dresses to tights. Pair these Shopbop.com Parker Leggings with a great pair of boots for a biker chic look.

    Cut-outs
Get ready to cut holes in your Spanx ladies...cut-outs are here! At least we have a choice about what part of our bodies we want to show. The most coveted piece of the season is the cut-out mini skirt. Wear it with a blazer or a tee. If you’re not ready to show parts of your body, try a cut-out illusion look like this French Connection Dress.

    Bootie
I am happy to say that the bootie is still going strong. However, just like everything else this season, it has toughened up. Pair them with an opaque tight and wool skirt for work. I love this Juicy Couture pair.

    Thigh High
From Marc Jacobs to Alexander McQueen, everyone is going thigh high! While this trend is a great way to lengthen the leg, it does not work for anyone with short calves, since the boots will not break in the right place. Remember that these are meant to be the centre of attention, so pair them with something classic to avoid looking over the top. These Steve Madden Montrell boots work both over-the-knee and below.

    Now you’re set for fall!
